Guest 3333 : who confused it? The gist of the story was that the entire outfit cost $300,000 -- not just the dress.
Bundy. : I am shocked that someone would confuse $3000.00 with $300,000.00.

easterner : oh for goodness' sake; here I was, foolishly buying the rumor that McCain's dress cost 300,000...actual ly, it is just an ESTIMATE of her dress (3,000) and all the jewelry (not all purchased for the event), shoes, etc, is estimated to cost.

Joe Eagle : That's one thing I like I liked a bit about Ross Perot (sp?) He at least was willing to cut into crazy programs (like the $80,000 a year tea tasting job that started over 100 years ago)
Joe Eagle : I think both sides are very guilty of crazy spending!
Joe Eagle : And we wonder why they can't get the national spending under control.
Bundy. : I don't know the source
Bundy. : I asked that question in the Palin post.
Joe Eagle : One beef I have with all politicians is that they seem to spend $$$$$$$ on such lavish things that are completely unnecessary.
Joe Eagle : Did the article say where th funds came from?
Bundy. : True. However, she is wealthy enough to afford this (if indeed it happened).....re member, she has 8 houses!!!
Joe Eagle : I wonder if any of this comes from political donations - if I had donated to McCain camp. I'd be a little frustrated if I'd had known that much money had been spent on an outfit for a single night.
Joe Eagle : If it is completely her funds, she must be one wealthy woman - (or maybe she views it as an investment.)
Joe Eagle : Probably more than both your and my salaries put together!
Bundy. : So what? If she wants to spend that amount of money that is her choice. Now, that would be a different story if public funds were ever used. Kind of like Obama and the DNC spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to rent Invesco field and all the props (fireworks, music, etc.....for their shindig.....)
Guest 3333 : I just read where Cindy McCain spent over $300,000 for her opening night outfit at the RNC. That is several year's of my salary.

Joe Eagle : I do agree with Nemisis that there has been very heavy and heated in the political discussions area recently - but I have to remind myself the elections are just around the corner.
Joe Eagle : I think Nemesis was tired of all the political talk. We have some very strong opinions on this site (which I love) and some great debates. Some enjoy the debates, others dont.
boomer : Why not save it until after the election? If you all want to change some minds, get out of the house and hit the street. Go get someone registered.

Guest_1592 : I don't think that's it at all. S/he posted in the McCain's pick thread, and I think s/he's just tired of all the nonense and it's not making her/him happy any longer. I respect her/his decision to do what's best for her/himself. And if being here isn't it, then it's the right choice to move on.
