Discounted grocery store opens second location in eastern Idaho next month

CHUBBUCK – A discount retail store is expanding its footprint in eastern Idaho.

Clayton Cook, founder and CEO of Big Deal Outlet, told EastIdahoNews.com that a Chubbuck store will open in mid-October at 4215 Yellowstone Avenue in the old Shopko building next to the Pine Ridge Mall.

“We’re shooting for a grand opening on October 13 (but that could change),” Cook said.

Big Deal Outlet will share the space with CAL Ranch, which recently purchased the building and will be relocating early next year. The discount food store will occupy approximately 30,000 square feet.

The Chubbuck store is one of the company’s largest locations, and Cook says it will include a wider selection of inventory than stores in other communities.

“We will have a larger clothing area than our previous stores,” says Cook. “There will be room for larger items, like furniture or appliances. We will also have a few of these types of items.

In addition to food, the company has products that are used, damaged, abandoned, or returned to the store, so everything will cost a lot less than any other retail store.

The Idaho Falls store moved into the old Smith’s building at 400 South Woodruff last month after less than a year at its previous location in the old AC Moore building at 2455 East 25th Street.

Cook is satisfied with the quality of the reception given to the Idaho Falls store, and this was a determining factor in the decision to open in Chubbuck.

“We love communities that still have a small town feel. Pocatello’s proximity to our warehouse in Ogden and the Idaho Falls store made perfect sense, ”Cook said. “We are delighted that there is already some name recognition in Pocatello. We already have customers there who regularly shop at our Idaho Falls store. “

Shopko closed several years ago and the building has been vacant for at least a year. Cook says the ability to partner with CAL Ranch is what made this particular place so appealing.

“It’s a first class operation. We admire them and the way they do business. They made a very good financial sense to us and the size available was attractive. It was just a good fit for both sides, ”he says.

“We’re excited about the move here in Chubbuck, and we think it’s a better location for our customers. We have been members of the Chubbuck / Pocatello community since 1967 and are excited about this next step. We love being a part of this great community, ”CAL Ranch spokesperson Jason Miller wrote in a statement to EastIdahoNews.com.

Cook says Big Deal Outlet continues to grow and there are plans to open more stores in the near future. He is delighted to serve customers in the Pocatello area.

“We are thrilled to see how quickly the community receives us and how busy this store is. The busier we are, the more products we can send out there and the more we will be able to deliver great deals, ”he says.

A specific opening date and other updates will be announced on the store’s Facebook page in the coming weeks, which you can visit. by clicking here.
